The five project areas
The project will be implemented in Tanzania in five districts namely
Kilombero, Kibaha, Mbarali, Bunda, and Iringa where rice is grown under
irrigation and/or rain fed conditions. The project will engage relevant
stakeholders such as irrigation dept; RCT; private sector; NGOs etc throughout the project period by establishing new and/or building on existing multi-actor platforms (MAPs) so as to enhance uptake of project results and upscaling. On farm trials in all the districts will be used as a basis for training and demos of SRI practices. Feedback from extension workers, farmers and scientists will be used to fine tune the training modules on agronomy/crop management, soil health and water management.
